I'm sure this has happened to most of you, but I thought I would put it because I don't have too many moments where I actually say out loud that "THIS IS THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS SOULBONDING".
Today my girlfriend and I were talking about some of our original soulbonds. We have a whole world between the two of us. Anyhow, we were talking about three of the main creative powers of this universe, Death, Dream and Life. Dream and Death are brothers that had a little war over Life, where Dream somehow ended up nearly dead.
His brother felt like shit about it. The war was over Life, ostensibly, and who would end up dating her and basically being the other RULING power...
That's the backstory I knew till this morning...
But my girlfriend and I were talking this morning and I was mulling over the war and Dream just suddenly SMACKS me up side the head and says to me in his very snarky sort of way, "That isn't how it happened."
Turns out Dream would have WON that war, and the hand of Life, except he was too damn loyal to both his brother and Life... Death stabbed him in the back (literally) and that also explains why Life has become more and more guilt-ridden and fractured and why Death is always so deferential to his brother...
AND why Dream is a snarky bastard that I love so much <3

S'what I get for posting at work.
The point was really that you go about, writing out these stories, writing down this history for your bonds (least I do) and lots of it doesn't make SENSE... things are happening and they SWEAR they are supposed to have happened that way, even not making sense...
And later on another piece of the puzzle is given to you and you realize how much sense it really makes and how many pieces really do tie together because now you KNOW something more...

And don't worry about looking like a spaz. I think you did just fine. I'm the one who always screws up my posts (you should see the last topic I made... I made myself look like a total baby!).

When it comes to my bonds, most of them came from a dream or some weird inspiration I had... and usually they just ARE bonds, from the very beginning, but it takes me awhile to figure that out for some...
Recently, I've just gotten back into contact with the lot of them and they're being very generous with information ^_^

I will admit to being a little influenced in the initial character development of Dreams et Morphe and Death once I'd read the Sandman graphic novels but they quickly put a stop to that ^_^;; I think more influence for character designs in general came from Steven Brust's To Reign in Hell...
And another important factor is Death's a man ^_^
